A bad story

One day,I woke up in the morning then I prepared breakfast for my daughter to feed her so she refused it, then I tried to leave her for a few minutes to watch something that she liked, but it didn't work with her.
After that I realized that she was sick with high fever and she pointed at her ears also. Usually on the weekend her GP is closed. Terrible!! Terrible!!
We took her to a medical center, the doctor said she had a sore throat, just keep giving her Panadol and Neurofen.
The same day at 7:30 in the evening, she started shivering her hands and her lips turned nearly black with high fever.
I took her to hospital very quickly, we stayed there for 3 hours, there were no Doctors to check my daughter only training Doctors, who don't have experience. They checked her ears, her throat and told me it was just a virus in her throat may be after 3 days she will be allright.
Finally the next day I went to her GP with a letter from ST.George Hospital, then the Doctor had a look at my daughter and he told me absolutely she needed antibiotic and drops for her ears.

Physical punishment

Physical punishment to discpline children is not a good way of bringing up children, most parents suffer from this problem.
In my opinion if you punish your child physically that will make a bad impression in their brains and also this behaviour may effect their own lifes when they are grown up, I think they won't forget it.
It is heart-braking to see these children being upset and angry from this abuse.
Some children suffer some physical damage like brain damage, ears injuries.
According to stastics "Reported cases of child abuse have increased by 63% in the last 10 years and over 3 million children are at risk of exposure to parental violence each year.
There are many ways to discpline children by isolating them from friends, naughty corner, not to go away for a holiday, not to give them pocket money.
If you always hit your children physically, they'll other children, friends, even their parents because they do what they see. It is very hard to understand children what they want, what they think, what they do!!!!!!!!!
If you have any problem with your children, don't hesitate, there are professional people to help you with this problem.
Please don't make children unhappy if they make a mistake teach them, be nice, talk calmly, be a friend to them, always surprise them by bringing them presents that they'll like if they're good.

Exursion to Bondi Beach and then to Tamarama beach
Before this excursion happened ou teacher organised a lot of things to have a look beforehand. So our class joined AMEP_A class, the teachers thought it easier to talk about this excursion for this couple of classes.
Anyway they gave us some information about what we were going to see and what we had to do? We talked about this exhibition which is called "Sculpture by the sea" where there are many sculptures according to their numbers, with their definition about their materials, size, etc. And also we talked about the time and where we were going to meet? So every student has this sculpture and his no. that's was our work.
Last Tuesday we went on an excursion to see an International Art Exhibition called"Sculpture by the sea" from Bondi Beach to Tamurama Beach.
The weather was amazing, sunny no wind with 27 degree temperature, it was really excited to go there.
I woke up in the morning early at 6:30 The weather was amazing, sunny no wind with 27 degree temperature, it was really excited to go there,so I started to organise everything for me and my daughter.
We ate our breakfast very quickly and got dressed then I dropped my daughter off to child care centre. After that I realized that I forget my daughter's lunch at home .
i was really lucky because my husband was with us so he was in a hurry to grab her lunch,I waited for him, I took some photos of my daughterin the child care centre and played with her.
Then I bought some coffee and I went to Kogarah Station at 9:00 to meet my classmates who were in the queueto pay for the fare of the ticket and some of them were talking. At 9:16 we caught the train to Bondi Junction and then we caught a bus which was only prepaid, while we waited we talked with teachers and with classmates about some terrible news happened in Sydney.
We rode the bus and after 15 minutes we arrived to Bondi Beach which was wonderful with their long beach, nice views, straightaway I remembered my country I actually felt homesick and it was the first time I went there.
So my classmates bought hats to protect their head from the sun also they put suncream too. I was excited to see this Exhibition so we walked along the beach, we saw many sculptures ,many designs, many colours, many decoration ,many views, I couldn't imagine "What's the meaning of that", it was hard to understand every sculpture. There were many tourists visited this occasion which was fabulous in their location and view. I couldn't explain my feelings that day we really enjoyed it.

Smoke gets in your eyes

The Editor

Dear Sir
I agree with Fresh Air Felicity about her opinion of smokers, we're fed up with them because Smoking causes a dirty mess and pollution in our city.
Especially it's really dangerous for children to breathe this foul_smell.
Also do you know the butts on the footpath end up in the water when it's rains, they're spread very quickly into it, which is very dangerous and really bad for our environment.
What's more it's extremely disgusting when you are next to smokers then you have to put your clothes on the line or wash them.
We certainly need to fix this huge problem and make Smokers do it in a designated area.

Last Tuesday AMEP classes went on an excursion to Featherdale Wildlife Park, it's location is in Donside(near blacktown).

Last Semester students of AMEP helped with the Health Expo and earned money so the Student Association helped us with this excursion by paying all the fee entry so most of the students were happy with that(free).

AMEP teachers hired a bus which was very comfortable, and also all students were sitting on their seats. They thought it was much easier than to catch train and bus.

We met in the morning at 8:45 on the Princess Highway behind Building A, then I saw my classmates were sitting there and waited for the bus to come, while we were waiting we talked about our holiday and what we did during it. Some of them did something and the others were boring.

We left there at 9:05 and we arrived to the park approximately 10:10 so it took 1 hour, when we arrived there one of the teachers stood up and started to explain to us what we should do, and also she told that we couldn't feed the animals with our food there's a special food for them which was really interesting but I didn't try it, and also a passport for this Park inside which were some pictures of animals to stamp them where the animals are.

Everyone entered the Park, we split up into groups and I thought all of them were excited to come in and have a look what's inside because we had a lots of work about this day what we did, what we saw etc. and a report for your favourite animals, we took photos to publish them on your blog.

The Kangaroo was the first animal I saw, so cute when they were running around and some of them were hopping too.

Some people got scared when they saw them very close but the others enjoyed feeding them and took ohotos, and one of our classmates put her foot on their claws but she didn't realise that a Kangaroo was behind her.

Featherdale full of native animals such as Koalas,Kangaroo,Emu etc.

I took photos for a Koala while she was holding her 2 babies and standing on the top of a tree .

They always sleep nearly the hole days and they are lazy. I also saw many kinds of birds, some of them are caged and the others are free.

The Penguins were swimming , a Pelican "whose bill can hold more than his belly", and also 2 Kangaroos were kissing each other, when i held my camera to take a photo of them they finished their love session.

A Peacok was standing but he didn't open her wonderful feathers with their special coulours.

There were many kinds of snakes, each kind has a decorated place, rocks, sands and light. The Lizard was lying in the sun, I woke up the Dingo and I took a photo of it.

Turtles are reptitles which live in the water their bodies covered with shell to protect them.

A Kookabura which has a very noisy sounds was singing his heart out. The Sun Concure is a beautiful parrot which is naturally, brightly coloured, actually it's an amazing and fabulous bird with their amazing sounds.

When you saw the Tawny Frogmouth, you think that he's not a bird, he looks like a branch of the tree that he stoods on because he has the same colour as the tree.

After 3 hours we decided to have a rest and ate some foods so we bought drink with potato chips and we sat together with our classmates. We enjoyed that lunch and we took a lot of photos with our teachers and classmates. Then we visited the Souvenir shop, which is a bit expensive but they have special things related to those animals.

After that we returned to the Bus to come back to TAFE.

We enjoyed that excursion we learnt a lot of new information about Aussie animals.

Holidays in Broumana

Hi rosa
I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your holiday and had fun with your friends, and i'm hoping you relaxed and had a great time and also feel better after you'll get your expensive sun glasses.
I would like to tell you about my holiday after the honey moon which was very interesting.
My husband and I stayed in a hotel in the mountain in Lebanon it was a very nice hotel, its location was very convenient to everything (shops, restaurants, cinema).
We went to a huge restaurant called Mounir Restaurant which is in the middle of pine and oak forest , pivate vineyards, gardens, waterfalls, you can see the beach from the top of this restaurant. How can I describe it to you?
The view was amazing, you breath fresh air and also nice weather.
The restaurant is excellent with Lebanese food and fantastic with Lebanese Traditional dishes, you could choose whatever you liked.
For me I preferred the barbeque with tabouleh and some pies with cheese, meat, spinach and also they had fresh bread you could them while they baked it. They were fantastic and delicious with the fresh juice and also there were many kinds of fruit(yummy).
A lot of people were sitting there enjoying their Summer time.
They had very beautiful flower arrangement around it and inside the restaurant.
Guess what we did? I told my husband to wear our wedding dress to take a photo next to those flowers because they were the same colour of my dress(pink).
We went around the restaurant to have a look, took pictures and then we came back to the hotel having relaxed.
We had a great time there and I hope to go back to my country to spend a lot of times in that area.

Dust storm in Sydney

A huge dust storm happened in Sydney on September 23rd, I've never seen a storm like this in my life it was very bad.I can't imagine what happened?
I thought that it was the end of the world!
I thought that there may be an Earthquake coming!
When I woke up in the morning, I saw everything red and a very bad smell, I smelt it because I have an allergic(sinus)and also the wind was very fast.
Suddenly I remembered that I had left the kitchen window open all night, I ran from my bedvery quickly I saw everything RED .
What could I do, how did it happen?
I tried to look to the sky but I couldn't see anything and I usually hear the planes but till that moment I didn't hear anything. I told my husband the weather outside is very dangerous if this dust goes through our throat that will be very bad to our body and that's not healthy.
But that's unusual the News shoud have talked about this storm before but we didn't hear anything about it.
Then I went to TAFE there were many people with maskes on their faces to protect their lungs from this storm.
A lot of people called the fire brigade to help them and also cars were didn't appear their real colours because they were covered up with that dust.
The Airport stopped their departures and arrivals because they couldn't see anything and also the Ferries stopped too because of bad visibility.

Learning English using more technology

Everyone who has come to Australia is interested in learning English because you wouldn't be able to do anything in the future without this language especially if you have children and you have to enrol them in a school, you should have to speak English fluently.
In Australia there are many ways to learn english for example:you can study English at TAFE, an English Center, on line, a private school etc.
Learning English at TAFE is a very good idea because you communicate with teachers, speaking with your classmates, using more Technology by using the internet, smart boards, and other software programs.
Online English also gives you more opportunity to discover new words, new conversations, new meanings and at the same time you have the chance to practise them.
Online also prvides Aussie conversations which will improve your spoken language because we use it everyday.
Also there's Audacity, a program which you can download from the internet, so you canuse it to record you voice and listen to it .
It will help improve your speaking. For example before you have a presentation, you can practise your voice before you talk to your teacher and your classmates too.
Following your teacher also helps you because they have experience, and they'll help you focus especially if you have a dedicated enthusiastic teacher.
Online Library catalogues allow you to choose your books without having to go there.
I think learning English using more Technology is essential and more interesting. you'll learn new things and communicate with more people to improve yourself quickly and be great soon to do whatever you want.

The1st day in Australia

My first day in Australia was happy and sad at the same time.
I was excited to come to Australia and live with with my husband in the same house, I can't wait I told my mum.
When the Immigration department gave me the visa I was really delighted but suddenly I realised that I was leaving my country, I was leaving my parents, my brothers, my friends.
Everything would change. I didn't have any idea about this country because I had never thought that one day I would leave my country for any purpose.
Neighbours, friends, relatives came to my house, I couldn't imagine the no. of the people who came to our house, It was nearly 150 persons during 4 days. I was very tired and exhausted at the same time Icouldn't sleep.
11-12-2006 was the last day with my family in Lebanon. It was the first time that I saw my dad crying a lot, I didn't know that he loved me so much, and also one of my brothers started hugging me and crying . I was afraid and I asked myself:"how will I live without them?"
My mum was really tired and she didn't stop crying and everyone looked at me.
At 12:30p.m on 11-12-2006 was the time to go to the Airport and it was a very difficult step, how can I describe my feelings? It was a very hard moment!!!
I've never forgotten these moment!!! I love my family a lot, a lot, a lot...
Then I went to the Airport with the family and we hugged and kissed and said goodbye...
From my country to Australia it took 18 hours travel which was a very long trip.
It was the first time for me to travel by plane and I didn't have any idea.
On the plane, I was very excited to see my husband who had left me after we got married because my visa wasn't ready.
When I arrived to Sydney Airport which was crowded, a lot of people were waiting and I started to search for my husband. I found him finally, he had brought a bunch of red flowers for me.
I was happy and my sister-in-law who I was meeting for the first time came to the Airport too.
Then they took me to their family house where the rest of the family were waiting for me. We talked about the trip, the family and many things.
I was very tired and too excited to sleep at the same time.
My husband and I went to our house, which surprised me with the beautiful furniture in it, and also he prepared some food for me. We enjoyed that night.
I hoped my new life in Australia would be successful and happy.

A SPECIAL DAY 09/09/09

09/09/09 was a really special and interesting day. I think a lot of people waited for this date to celebrate their own parties or wedding.
When I got married in Lebanon I asked my husband to celebrate our wedding day on 06/06/06 but actually he had already told his boss that he needed a holiday after that date and we had the wedding on 02/07/06.
Yesterday was the 19th date of fasting in Ramadan, we've actually been fasting for 1 month, so all Muslims in the world are fasting from sunrise to sunset and have no food nor water during the day.
We had special food, special drinks and delicious sweets that we cooked and prepared for this month.During Ramadan there are lots of prayers that you do it it in the evening.(It would be better if you did it in the mosque).
Now I live in Sydney and this was my Aussie 09/09/09. First I went to TAFE ,I was a bit late because I woke up later than usual .
In class we talked with Silivia our teacher about the weather in australia and she tried to make us listen to the weather report on the radio which was a bit faster than the one I watched on T.V. but we learnt the meanings of different words. Then after the break we had Rosa who had her birthday yesterday, but I forgot to say Happy Birthday for her.
We're still practising with her the Present Perfect ,and she told us that an exhibition of modern cars was on at TAFE yesterday, so when I finished my class I saw those wonderful and fabulous cars but I didn't take a photo of them because they were very fast on the Princess Highway.
Anyway I came back home where was lots of work to do. My daughter was sleeping so I was in a hurry to prepare what I wanted to cook before she got up.
I cooked Okra with rice, soup, salad, pizza and also I prepared delicious sweets. Guess what?
They are traditional sweets, my husband loves them and me too!
You can see the photo of this kind of sweets, we called (Mafroukeh).
I made a phone call overseas to my family. I felt homesick.
My daughter got up @ 4:45 very haugry and I fed her some food and some fruit. I was very happy because she's eating much better than before.
At 5:45 it was time to eat and nothing else! we enjoyed eating the food and when we finished our dinner , we started to do the washing-up and tidied-up the kitchen.
Then I prayed with my husband and my daughter too.
Rosa I hope you celebrate and enjoyed your Birthday

Macca in Ramadan

Oh my Good! I hope to go there one day, especially this time of year becasue if anyone goes for OmRa Allah makes it lik Hijja.
Hijja happens once a year in Mecca. It's like a pilgrimage, which means a religious trip. Muslim people should go there once in their life time (at least).
My brother-in-law took this picture recently because he lives there and he went with my mum who was visiting them. They have been there three times this month. They enjoyed it and prayed a lot.

Interesting holiday

Last holiday Iwas very busy and at the same time exhausted.

We went to do some some shopping with my husband and we bought lots of things which were on special and then we came back home to prepare delicious food. I also prepared food for the next week because, you know, this level of English has a lot more homework than the level before.

Ramadan was coming the following week, so this weekend was the last before Ramadan would start, so in our tradition , the hole family has a barbecue, for example in the park, and has lots of fun.

My husband told me that we should go out to have dinner in Bankstown. There's a delicious Thai restaurant there. I like this restaurant because the food is always fresh and healthy .

We enjoyed that dinner with the family and I wished my family (living overseas) were with us because I feel homesick about them. Then we came back home.

I received many gifts from my mum, she sent 2 lovely dresses for my daughter , and special sweets that we eat in Ramadan and also a very nice tracksuit for me .

I called her to say thanks for the gifts and I wished to see her soon . Actually I'm very fond of her.

On Sunday I had to prepare my homework, which was a presentation by borrowing a book from the library and then I had to tell my classmates about it.

While I was reading the book I received a call from my friends and we talked about our kids and what she was doing on the weekend. Also we talked about my studies and she told me that my English had improved a lot because the week before we were on the Internet chatting online.

I was really proud of myself.

When I finished this call I continued to prepare this presentation by writing some paragraphs about it. Then I decided to practise this presentation on the audacity program by recording my
voice to make sure that I'll do it very well.

Special events

When I was pregnant ,my husband decided to bring my mum to Australia to help me because I really needed her a lot I was very exhausted.
I was really happy about this news, so my mum started to organize for me and for the baby girl a wonderful things.
what you see in this picture is one of many special things.
This tray is designed for a baby girl and on the top are chocolate with some designs and also souvenir that were for everyone came and visited us on this event.

Great family

I have 3 brothers and 1 sister, but I'm very special to them because I always helped them with everything a lot .
When I got married they organised something very special for me. They gave me money to buy jewellery, everyone had different amounts, so I went to the jeweller and I chose 2 rings from my 2 brothers, a very special ring with a little heart around it from my sister and also 1 bracelet from my special mum, it was very expensive, she had saved a lot of money for me to buy this special one because she knew I'd love it.
Also my dad and my mum gave me a diamond ring that my dad had given to my mum when the first married as a wedding gift. They decided to give it to me.
My third brother surprised me with fireworks when I arrived to the place where the wedding was held.
So I always wear my family's (jewellery) gifts to remember that I've got a very special family.
I feel homesick and miss them all.

A true criminal story

This story is about me and it was really terrible and shocking.

Actually I was working at a patisserie shop as an assistant and I had a really good job and salary.
Always when I got the money at the end of the month, I immediately bought stylish jewellery from my friend's uncle. He was a very good man, he gave me a good price and sometimes when I had a special occasion, he lent me some jewellery.

Anyway, one day I finished work and I went to the gym to exercise and I stayed there for about 1 hour. Then I decided to go back home. I arrived home, there were no lights on. I opened the door and suddenly I heard my sister scream and say:"All your jewellery has been stolen by a thief" and she told me that also my brother's and father's money was gone. I was really shocked about what had happened. Everything was gone!

I asked where my mother was. My sister answered that the thieves had covered her mouth with ether and she passed out, and they put her under the bed and did whatever they wanted.
I ran to see my mother, I pulled her out from under the bed and I started to talk with her .
She woke up and she had a very painful body. She told me:"Lina, all your jewellery is gone".
I said "Don't worry, mummy. Don't care about them, the important thing is you, my darling".
She started to tell us what had happened.

While she was hanging the clothes on the line, there were two men on the front of the balcony, and they asked her "where's your husband?".
My mother said that her husband was not there at the moment, he had gone for a walk, but a very important thing is that when she was answering their question, she didn't look at them. She told us that she thought "if I look at their faces, they may kill me, because I would be able to recognise them".

Then they followed her strictly and did whatever they wanted, and also they put some electrical equipment in the balcony outside our home and suddenly my uncle came and the thieves heard his car and they run away through another door.

My mother was very lucky that my uncle came. She was also very clever not looking at their faces, because they only covered her mouth and sent her to sleep with ether.

Health Expo 09:aussie helpers

ST.George TAFE Health Expo 2009 raised funds for Aussie Helpers.

AMEP_B English Class interview Aussie Helpers. It was really interesting.

Aussie helpers are a group of volunteers who help collect food and money to help farmers.

They are all volunteers so nobody gets paid, they've done many things, by collecting food and taking it out to the farmers who are very poor.

These farmers actually need help because they are poor and they have had fail crops for many years because they have had ,and they also help them with depression. Depression is a big problem in the Outback.
Listen to our interview with one of their volunteers.
